Florals with Emma Landwerlen StArtUp317 installation, IN May 2019

Florals is an installation work created in partnership with Emma Landwerlen. Florals is lifeless, early 1990's

living room scene is being overrun by the floral wallpaper. The floral pattern imbues the common scene

with both the uneasiness of obliteration and joy from release of the dull. The floral design is an extension of

Landwerlen's illustration work and greenthumb. Kugler created a realistic 90's living room scene and made

garments and accessories with fabric printed with Landwerlen’s illustration.

CelloPlay reVISION exhibition, IN March/April 2019

The reVISION exhibition was created to be all senses. CelloPlay was inspired by the wrapping cellophane

from a chocolate candy. In CelloPlay, Kugler has designed and stitched two garments out of clear vinyl and

cellophane and invites the audience to create their own sculptures with squares of cellophane. This

cellophane material creates a variety of sounds and has increasingly interesting texture.

Massive Mend Garfield Park Art Center, IN MLK Jr Day, February 2019

The Massive Mend is a collaborative community sewing project. Kugler teaches basic hand stitches and

the participating group sews random fabric scraps together while ruminating on the subject of imperfect

repair and what they have been avoiding mending in their own lives. This event took place on Martin Luther

King Jr. Day and underscored community cooperation.

Light Up the Night Garfield Park Art Center/Tube Factory, IN May 2018

As a way to devise creative wayfinding in a Garfield Park, Kugler built a series of

reflective/light up trench coats to be worn from one arts organization to another by participants

attending First Friday arts programming. This fun activity engaged not only the participant but

others attendees as they were highly visible.
